Do you have a "Clue"?

Well I didn't have a clue on how this would play out.  So I decided to use a random number picker on the internet.  I've used it before and it works quite well.  Hmmmm, maybe too well this time.  So well that no one guessed the entire scenario, murderer, room, or weapon.  However someone did at least get the weapon right and I guess that's the closest we have to a winner.   So we do have a winner.

The detectives reported back the next morning after questioning all the suspects closely.  Here is their verdict:

The murderer was:  Miss Melba Peach

The murder took place:  In the Ballroom

The murder weapon was:  a revolver (stolen from Madame Rose we presume)

Congratulations to Nilsa Donelan for getting the only part right with the revolver.

Nilsa has chosen Rio Pacheo as her prize.

Nilsa was playing for Team 3. So Peggy Burney has chosen Firmly Planted Ellowyne as her prize.

Thanks to all the designers for their hard work and fabulous results and thanks to everyone joining in on this Happening.

Do you have a "Clue"?

Hello,
I have had to start this Blog as my dear friend Dot, passed away Dec. 11, 2013. Dot and I ran Couture Doll Shops together. I was the owner, developer, and builder of CDS and Dot was my fabulous manager. One of Dot's many jobs was to do the blog for the site. Now she is gone, I cannot access the original blog and so to continue her work I've had to start a new one.

Our first blog will be for the January Happening. Dot had written this out and I will post it here.

CoutureDollShop.com is back with an adventure for their latest happening. It involves a mystery scenario that we think you will enjoy, and this one will also include audience participation. Our event will begin Friday, January 24, 2014 and continue through Monday, January 27, 2014. All information for entering can be found here and the winner(s) will be announced here Friday, January 31, 2014.
Here’s how it will play out. We are going to “play” the game of Clue. Clue was a popular board game where Mr. Boddy was murdered and the players had to decide whodunnit, where they did it, and what weapon they used. For our version of the game each of the designers have used one of these ten murder suspects as their muse: Miss Scarlett, Mrs. White, Mrs. Peacock, Miss Melba Peach, Madame Rose, Lady Lavender, Mrs. Jane Meadowbrook, Yvette, Mrs. Ho, and the Singing Telegram Girl. They have dressed them appropriately (or made something for them), and then named their muse, which room in the Alpine Ski Mansion they felt the murder took place, and indicated what weapon was used. The designers have also named who they “really” thought did it, and where and with which weapon they used at the bottom of their description. Which info do you trust - or do you prefer to present your own scenario of what happened to Mr. Boddy by selecting your own muse, room, and weapon?
These will be some of the options if you enter. As noted above, our setting is a traditional mansion style ski resort rented especially by Mr. and Mrs. Boddy for the cast of characters to play this game. This should be an appropriate setting for the winter clothing the designers would present, but unfortunately, this is also where Mr. Boddy was found dead, so he’ll never see those fashions. The rooms in this exquisite place to choose from number ten, and include
1. Kitchen
2. Ballroom
3. Conservatory
4. Dining Room
5. Cellar
6. Billard Room
7. Library
8. Lounge
9. Hall
10. Study.
The weapons used could be ONLY one of these six:
1. candlestick
2. dagger
3. lead pipe
4. revolver
5. rope
6. wrench.
No liberties are to be taken with the rooms or the weapons - you must select one of these to have a correct guess.
Who Dunnit? Each person who wants to participate will choose a Designer’s “team” they want to be on, and will indicate their Team Number (noted at the end of every Designer’s write up) when sending in their selections. They will then be playing for their designer as well as themselves because if a participant has the exact answers and wins, so does their designer. Each Team Designer may solicit people to be on their Team - the more people on a team, the bigger chance for someone on their team to win. Each Team Designer has named their choices, but the team players do NOT have to stick with what their Team Designer picked. While their answer may be right; it may also be wrong - there are no guarantees on the Team Designer’s picks!! All entries are due in Monday, January 27, 2014 midnight PST, and no matter how many exact guesses there are, only the first two exact guesses found will be eligible for the prize.
Here are the Team Designer’s designs and their choices so you can study which team you’d like to be on. Then be sure to check out our January Happening page on CDS,  Friday, January 24, 2014 and continue through Monday, January 27, 2014, and follow the directions there To place your guess and for any other information please email Larraine.

Kevin Kilmer, ClickDesigns - byKevin, http://clickdesigns - bykevin.weebly.com
Kevin’s muse is Miss Scarlett.  Miss Scarlett suspects Mrs. Peacock was in the study hiding with a lead pipe to do in Mr. Boddy because when she was in the lounge she heard a sound coming from that direction of the mansion around the time the murder took place. Miss Scarlett and Mrs. Peacock have been arch nemeses for many years, after Mrs. Peacock stole her husband from her.  Miss Scarlett, ever the cool character, has not acted upon it until now, but feels she must contact the authorities.  Miss Scarlett is wearing a stunning two piece gown. The bodice is heavily seed beaded and sequined to the max, and features coordinating colors to compliment the light grey satin of the bodice. The separate skirt is made from a stretch, polished silver lame’ with an inset at the front hem of a heavily sequined material.  All special design features have been fashioned to make her stand out from the crowd when she wears this gown titled Sensational Silver.
Team 1: Kevin Kilmer believes Mrs. Peacock did it in the library with a lead pipe. You may pick this team and use this as your guess, or you may decide on your own suspect, room, and murder weapon.

Rosy Bazile, Atelier de Rosy, http://atelierderosy.weebly.com

Rosy’s muse is Mrs. White. Mrs. White deeply respects the law, and she is willing to do anything to enforce it. She suspects Yvette took out Mr. Boddy, and wants her to confess. She moves toward the dining room where she will be waiting to threaten Yvette, if necessary, to make her confess. Mrs. White wears a white set with adjusted pants pockets at the front.  Her outfit also features a body suit in off-white stocking material as well as a long jacket in white cotton with printed, unbleached flowers and interior pockets. It is elegant simplicity.
Team 2: Rosy Basile believes Yvette did it in the dining room with a revolver. You may pick this team and use this as your guess, or you may decide on your own suspect, room, and murder weapon.

Peggy Burney, Creative Couture, http://creativecouture.weebly.com
Peggy’s muse is Mrs. Peacock. Mrs. Peacock had planned to go out for dinner before everyone was confined to the resort because of the murder. She looks around as if she is afraid someone might be watching her. She spies some papers on the table, sets down her
Chanel bag of ecru micro suede with a gold chain strap, and starts sifting through them. What is she looking for?! Could it be that she hopes to find something proving Miss Scarlett was being blackmailed by Mr. Boddy and got tired of paying him off, or is it as she has suspected for some time, that Mrs. Meadow-Brook and Mr. Boddy were having an affair and things turned ugly? As she is going through the papers, she knocks over her bag and a revolver falls out! She quickly picks it up and lays it on the table for a few minutes before concealing it again in her bag, and leaves the library.  Could she have found the will? Could she herself have killed Mr. Boddy? Mrs Peacock enters the library wearing a Chanel-type suit of medium brown, vintage silk tweed. It has a short, slim skirt and is lined in cream silk habotai. The jacket has amber colored buttons, and is trimmed with mink around the neck and sleeves. She also wears a sleeveless shell of orange silk dupioni lined in the same habotai.  Team 3: Peggy Burney believes Mrs. Meadow-Brook did it in the library with a revolver.  You may pick this team and use this as your guess, or you may decide on your own suspect, room, and murder weapon.

Frances Weir, Francesca Doll Couture, http://francescadollcouture.weebly.com
Frances Weir’s muse is Miss Melba Peach.  The brilliant, beautiful, but rather bitter, Miss Melba Peach is wearing a pastel peach, hand knit, two-piece afternoon dress. Chosen to compliment her blonde, Southern Belle complexion, it is knit in a very soft bamboo and silk yarn, with a simple cable pattern peplum and tiny pearl bead buttons.  Her skirt and top have tiny silver snap closures. Her accessories include a matching knit handbag with a chain strap, and a wide brimmed, lined silk hat in a deep peach silk embellished with silk flowers, pearl beads and mulberry paper peach roses that match her corsage.
Team 4: Frances Weir believes Mrs. Meadow-Brook did it in the conservatory with a candlestick.

Ina Murphey, La Petite Fashion Promenade http://lapetitefashionpromenade.com
Ina Murphey’s muse is Madame Rose.   Madame Rose may be a middle aged fortune teller, but she is definitely still in her prime. Ah, and Madame Rose is also a woman of many talents, not the least of which are her sharp-shooting and fortune telling skills!   She amazed
guests earlier in the day with her high score on the target range, followed by a séance at which she predicted the murder! During the séance, she looked into her crystal ball, and saw Mr. Boddy, lying dead on the floor in the lounge. She even demonstrated her vision by pulling out her revolver and pointing it at Mr. Boddy!  However, is all of this way too convenient to tie her to the murder? Madame Rose is dressed in her favorite gown; with its rose colored silk bodice and skirt of sheer rose printed lace. She is, indeed, an attractive and captivating character. Her shapely figure is faintly visible beneath the sheer lace, and her necklace of gold chains and sparkling Swarovski crystals and pearls glistens in the candlelight.  She truly seems much more interested in seducing Mr. Boddy than in murdering him!
Team 5: Ina Murphey believes Miss Scarlet did it in the lounge with a revolver. You may pick this team and use this as your guess, or you may decide on your own suspect, room, and murder weapon.

Pat Stoughton, Petite Moonbeams http://petitemoonbeams.com
Pat Stoughton’s muse is Lady Lavender. Lady Lavender is in her greenhouse with her cat attending to a few of her plants.  She has been busy all day, as evidenced by the differences in natural lighting coming through the glass panes.  Her favorites of all the plants are, of course, the lavender ones.  Lady Lavender is wearing a vintage-style dress of lavender pima cotton.  This two-piece outfit is a Modes Royale Adaptation 1947.  The pattern used is by Pam Tobey from a FDQ issue.  Pat redesigned it as a two-piece outfit and also removed several darts.
Team 6: Pat Stoughton believes Lady Lavender did it in the library with a rope.
You may pick this team and use this as your guess, or you may decide on your own suspect, room, and murder weapon.

Karen Daniel, Xxtra Fashionable http://www.xxtrafashionable.com
Karen Daniel’s muse is Jane Meadow-Brook.  Jane Meadow-Brook is the wealthy widow of the late Percy Meadow-Brook.  She has planned a clandestine meeting in the conservatory with a very competitive acquaintance.  Who knows what will happen when these two confront each other sometime during the evening.  Perhaps the planned conversation will have a very different outcome, perhaps the rope left to hang a new plant might be put to another use; who knows to what ends these two will pursue to get rid of a each other? Jane Meadow-Brook chose to wear a couture denim outfit to the ski resort. The jeans are fully lined and close with a fly front zipper.  They have double stitching throughout and the front pockets are accented with tiny rivets.  The fully lined jean jacket closes in front with snaps and antique gold buttons. The mock neck ribbed turtleneck and the matching rib knit toque is accented with vintage wooden blue beads which are also featured in the vintage necklace and pierced earrings. The white cowboy hat is trimmed with a denim belt and blue feather.  The fully lined back pack closes with a drawstring pull and has a flap that closes with a snap and features a matching antique gold button.
Team 7: Karen Daniel believes Mrs. Jane Meadow did it in the conservatory with a rope.  You may pick this team and use this as your guess, or you may decide on your own suspect, room, and murder weapon.

Gayle Chavez, Oohlalaz http://oohlalaz.weebly.com/oohlalaz.html
Gayle Chavez’s muse is Yvette.  Who knewYvette had a grudge to carry? It involves that old adage about “a woman scorned.” This young lady held nothing back when she caught Mr. Boddy in his lies about his torrid affairs with the rest of the housekeeping staff. There’s a lot of gossip in the maid’s quarters, so who knows if it’s true, though? Did Yvette kill Boddy with a candlestick in the hall? I guess we’ll all know when this crime has been solved!   Yvette (aka Tonner’s Sydney, 16” fashion doll) is wearing a one of a kind costume created just for this event.  Ruffle ribbon trimmed tulle skirt in black and pink, and a bustier trimmed with pink lace with top stitching, pink bows and that laces up in back, are some of the most predominant parts of this costume. She is also wearing light pink stockings and panties. Her duster and apron are also included.
Team 8: Gayle Chavez believes Yvette did it in the hall with a candlestick.  You may pick this team and use this as your guess, or you may decide on your own suspect, room, and murder weapon.

Anna Castanes, Something’s Old Something’s New http://www.somethingsoldsomethingsnew.com/
Anna Castanes’ muse is Mrs. Ho.  As Mrs. Ho stood in the study looking at Mr. Boddy’s body with the dagger sticking out of his chest her thoughts went back long ago when she was Mrs Peacock’s cook.  Mrs. Ho was in the house all the time, so she saw the affair from the start.  Mr. Peacock spent a lot of time working so Mrs. Peacock was looking for company, and boy did she find some.  Mrs. Peacock thought that in the end they would find a way to live happy ever after, but it was not to be.  Mr. Boddy found someone else and left her.  Did Mrs Peacock kill him or was it that hussy Miss Scarlett.  She had also seen how Miss Scarlett looked at Mr. Boddy and also saw them retire to his room last night.  Mrs Ho thought to her self, it will all come out when the police arrive.  It was time to retire; tomorrow would be a long day. Mrs Ho went to her bedroom, and as she walked through
the door she stopped to admire her bedding. It was so worth the time she spent with Anna  from Somethings Old Somethings New designing it.  Her coverlet was reversible, and it came with two large pillows - one to match each side. The set also included one smaller rectangular pillow.
Team 9: Anna Castanes believes Miss Scarlett did it in the study with a dagger. You may pick this team and use this as your guess, or you may decide on your own suspect, room, and murder weapon.

John Prewitt, JC Dream Designs http://www.jcdreamdesigns.com
John Prewitt’s muse is the Singing Telegram Girl. She shows up at the Alpine Ski Mansion looking for Professor Plum (her former lover) to see if the rumors are true about him and his new flame, Yvette, the maid.  While looking for the Professor she was surprised in the dining room by Mr. Boddy, immediately threw her out.  She was mortified and vowed to get back at that rude, hateful Mr. Boddy somehow.  Her original plans to confront Professor Plum completely in shambles, all she wanted to do now was escape. As the Singing Telegram Girl attempted to slip away from the Alpine Ski Mansion, she passed through the
Library, where she noticed the gorgeous retro-modern furniture that the Boddy’s had purchased during their recent redecoration efforts. This classic furniture collection with a modern twist includes: a grey-olive couch with polished aluminum legs; a side chair displaying a retro movie ticket themed print also with polished aluminum legs; and a contemporary cherry floor lamp with a frosted glass globe. She immediately regretted she hadn’t had more time to win over Mr. Boddy!
Team 10: John Prewitt believes the Singing Telegram Girl did it in the dining room with a dagger. You may pick this team and use this as your guess, or you may decide on your own suspect, room, and murder weapon.
